Quick Start Guide

Get up and running with AoEM Historian in just a few minutes.

For Leaders (Server Setup)​

Step 1: Configure Your Empire​

After adding the bot to your server, run:

/empire config

This registers your server and opens a form to set your empire number, display name, and starting credits for new players.

tip

Only users with Discord's Administrator permission can run /empire config.

Step 2: Run Jumpstart​

Set up your Discord server with one command:

/jumpstart

This automatically:

  • Creates the AOEM Historian category
  • Creates organized channels (#activities, #mge, #bot-chat, #empire-leaders)
  • Creates the AOEM Historian Leader role
  • Configures proper channel permissions
  • Posts welcome messages explaining each channel

You'll see a detailed report showing everything that was created.

Safe to Run Multiple Times

/jumpstart is idempotent - running it again won't create duplicates. It only creates what's missing.

Step 3: Set Player Role​

Define which Discord role can use the bot:

/empire role @YourMemberRole

Only members with this role can register and participate. This prevents random Discord members from accessing the bot.

Important

If you skip this step, /jumpstart will show a warning. Players won't be able to use bot commands until a role is configured.

Step 4: Add Leaders​

Add your R4s and officers as leaders:

/leader add @Username

Repeat for each leader. They'll automatically receive the AOEM Historian Leader role.

Step 5: Announce to Your Empire​

Let your members know the system is ready! Sample announcement:

We're now using AoEM Historian to track participation and manage MGE slots fairly.

To get started:

  1. Run /register and enter your in-game name in the modal
  2. After activities, click the Claim button on activity posts in #activities
  3. Check your balance with /credits

Credits you earn determine your priority for MGE slots. The more active you are, the better your chances!

For Players​

1. Register Your Account​

Link your Discord account to your in-game name:

/register

A modal will open where you enter your Age of Empires Mobile character name.

tip

Use the exact name as it appears in-game. This helps leaders identify you.

2. Claim Activities​

When your empire completes activities, leaders will post announcements in the #activities channel. Each post has a Claim button - click it to earn your credits.

Some activities require proof (a screenshot). If prompted, post your screenshot in the thread before clicking Claim.

3. Check Your Balance​

See how many credits you have:

/credits

This shows your current balance and recent transactions.

4. Apply for MGE Slots​

When an MGE (Mightiest Governor Event) opens, apply for a slot:

/apply 5

Choose the tier that matches how many credits you want to spend. Lower tiers (1-3) cost more but give priority for the limited slots.

Common First Questions​

How long can I claim an activity?​

Activities typically have a 2-day claim window after they end. Watch the #activities channel for announcements.

What happens if I make a mistake?​

  • Wrong name? Use /rename to change it
  • Claimed wrong activity? Ask a leader to use /nullify to reverse it

How do MGE slots work?​

  1. Leaders open applications for an upcoming MGE with /mge activate
  2. Players apply with /apply and choose a tier preference
  3. Leaders review applications with /slots
  4. Approved players get their slots based on tier and credits

Can I see who got MGE slots?​

Yes! Use /slots to see the current MGE status and slot assignments.
